2 shows, 12 min. in 1. Banjo players, working in court costume, white satin coat and knee breeches, and white wigs. Most of their selections are from the operas and they played them extremely well, but they scored their hit with a more popular class of airs.
GRR 2. 11 minutes. Operatic soprano. She has a sweet voice, not much volume, elegant costumes and grand personality, with excellent selections. Her place on the bill was a little late. This will be remedied tonight.
English prima donna soprano. Well known on the circuit. Played here last year. She accries [sic] her husband with her now and he leads the orchestra. Went as well as acts of this kind go, and while not a terrific hit, she managed to gain some applause. Was in better voice than I have ever seen her before. Drop in one. 12 minutes.
Two men and a woman in scene from Il Trovatore. They open with the prison scene in one to F.S. for two scenes. Quite a good act of the kind. Received very liberal applause. Open in one. F.S. 15 minutes.
These people went only fairly in their straight singing work but finished very strong with their operatic duo. I have an idea they will draw money though, judging from the advance applause received. 20 min open full stage, about 3 min. in 1, 2 shows.
Grand opera soprano. Large woman of heavy features, in Italian selections. Has a great voice which she knows how to use in heavy numbers. Was well received. 15 min. in one.
Operatic vocalists. Considering that these people do three shows, it is an excellent act, but I could not rate them in any such way if they did only two shows. The women’s voice is a little thin, but in an early place in the bill, say up to 8:30, they are very good. 17 min, open in two, close in one. Can close entirely in one if necessary. 3 shows.
Drapery in one, seventeen minutes. Man and woman, selection from ‘Trovatore’ in Italian, closing with an English number. Splendid appearance, gorgeous costumes, pleasing voices. Big applause during ‘Trovatore’ number and strong applause on the finish.
7 min. in one, 2 shows. Operatic tenor. “No doubt about the fact that he has gone by, his voice begins to show age, and his act is so short it is of little value.”
Singing selections in Italian from “Il Trovatore” and “Rigoletto” with tremendous success. Full stage but can close in one.
