21 minutes f.s. special set. Although we played the act for two weeks about four months ago, it seemed to go at both performances to-day even better than ever. Mr. Kellogg has eliminated quite a lot of his talk, and works he act very much faster than he did before. Has introduced several new stunts, such as blowing out the flame with the whistle; the singing flame; and the Digger Indian Death Tie, which he performed here for the first time to-day. All were received with enthusiasm and the stage setting got a hand at the opening.
23 min. In “Nursery Land.” A very pretty novelty which repeated the big hit it made here on its first showing last season. The various characters of Old Mother Goose tales are introduced in a series of picturesque songs and dances appropriately costumed. The act was a big applause winner.
With Bruce Weyman & Co. of 20. 26 minutes f.s. Three special sets. This act makes quite a flash. Opens with motion pictures, and pictures of the army and navy are also shown between the scenes, to give time to make sets. The musical end of the act is very strong, but the only song that gets anything is the number sung by Bruce Heyman, while swinging put over the audience, seated on the muzzle of a huge gun. A good patriotic feature, but by no means strong enough to hold up the show we have this week.
In “Love’s Follies” – acrobats, juggling, cello, piano, violin, three men, one takes a woman’s character; one takes the character of Charlie Chaplin, etc. 18 min. C.D.F. went fair.
These people have a great novelty and they play it well. But they overlook a very great possibilities by not making this a burlesque play on the movies instead of a serious drama. The play itself is very crude and old-fashioned but the novelty gets it over. Held the audience intact. 22 minutes full stage.
16 min. This act was formerly Bradley & Norris but it has been much improved with a new woman in the act. There is plenty of variety to it including songs, dances and bicycle-riding and it is all well handled. They did an encore bit in one that took them off to a great hand of applause.
A scenic pantomimic novelty – seven men; in a picturesque athletic novelty – head balancing, twisting, and somersaulting which went over great with the audience. Special drop; min. full stage.
Flying Missile Experts – man and woman – have special drop; open in full stage with woman singing in rhyme the different birds and animals the man imitates; closes with boomerang throwing, which was very interesting and went big with the audience, as it was something never seen before. 16 minutes, full stage.
A comedy Hindu novelty. Four men two work from Audiennce [sic] 14 min. Full stage. Special. While there is a lot of comedy the offering is also mysterious. Went well. Quite a lot of flowers are given away each show. Went good.
47 min. A great big flash with Margaret Iving and Felix Adler featured, supported by several other principals and a chorus. It is nicely staged and costumed. It is a series of musical numbers and some good comedy specialties introduced, also a novelty rope number and some special dancing. There is a lot of sameness about it, but it made a good impression and in the closing spot held the house seated and got a liberal amount of laughs and applause.
