William Ebs

(13 mins.) This is a novelty that repeated in great shape for us being one of the applause hits of the bill. All of his work was well received and he finished big.

Le Compte

“The man impervious to fire.” 12 minutes f.s. This is an instance of heavy advertising and press work and taking a chance on creating enough interest to keep a Boston audience after train time. We succeeded in doing it this afternoon, and Le Compte thoroughly made good. He puts molten lead in his mouth, chews melted sealing wax, bites carbons at white heat, and does numerous other stunts of a startlingly character, all of which made good to-day and he got a big hand. We have dressed the act up considerably, giving him a good set, putting him in a dress suit, and giving the whole act an atmosphere it never got in the small houses, and everybody was satisfied with it this afternoon. It seems to me a good safe proposition for anybody if well handled from the press end.

The McGrades

3 people. Their billing reads “presenting an unusual and somewhat tricky act.” They do a little juggling, some boomerang throwing, a little Scotch dancing and some clever bow and arrow shooting. It is one of the most novel and interesting opening act I have played this season and will make good in this spot on any program. Garden in 3. Time 11 min.

Griffith

Lightning calculator. 17 minutes in 1. Pleased greatly and should create a great deal of talk.

Hap Handy & Co.

Soap bubble manipulators. A very novel opening act and one which will create more or less talk. Act opens with a song by the woman and then she and Handy engage in some cross-fire talk which gets over fairly well. The feature of the act lies in their soap-bubble blowing, juggling the bubbles, cutting them in two, joining them together again and playing a game of billiards, using the bubbles for billiard balls. Fcy in 3. Time 17 min.

Griffith

Lightning calculator, who does the usual stunts performed for men of that class, but the act is presented in a most showmanlike [sic] manner, due evidently to the ability of his manager. The act contains a little element of comedy and, on the whole, made good. 18 Min. in One.

Griff

19 minutes, open in 1, then to 2, and close in 1. Griff has always been a favorite here and this afternoon went as well an act of this kind could go. There was good natured laughed all through.

John Birch

12 min. in one. This is well known on the circus. Gave his characteristic melodrama number with the aid of various hats, closing with a shower of hats from the flies. Fair applause.

Grigg

For some unaccountable reason he didn’t go very well until he introduced the orange catching stunt, which brought a lot of laughter and rounded him out in nice shape. There were quite a number of laughs, however, through the earlier part of the act and the house seemed to be interested or puzzled. I couldn’t tell which. I don’t believe that the audience here really understands the work of this man, for he is undoubtedly very clever and should prove of interest to any intelligent person. He got along very well, however, and was by no means a disappointment in any sense. Finished moderately strong. 22 minutes, palace in 3.
