Henry Clive

“Spirit Paintings.” 16 min. F.S. Clive is certainly a genuine novelty. He presents it in a very lively and interesting manner and keeps the audience guessing right up to the finish. Big applause after each demonstration and closed strong. An act that will be talked about.

The Graphophone Girl

Presented by Adeline Francis. A novel presentation, using the graphophone to exploit her talents in the way of singing, humorous dialogue, etc. Miss Francis has a pleasing personality and a fairly good voice. Thirteen minutes, in one.

Jesse L. Lasky’s “The Little Parisenne”

35 minutes f.s. Special set. This act got over in great shape here to-day. The “Bunty” and “Esquimo Rag” numbers are quite a novelty, and seemed to catch the fancy of the audience, while the entire production seemed to go very much better than it did in New York.

Australian Woodchoppers

Full stage, 14 minutes. This is not a new act to Cleveland, having appeared previously at a cheaper house. They begin with a moving picture of the Australian woods, have a lecturer who’s fair, and work unusually hard during their time on the stage. The act in a novelty and gets considerable applause. (Open)

Jessie Busley & Co.

Four women and two men and “extra woman” in “Miss 318,” a stage version of Rupert Hughes story by the same name. The act has the merit of novelty. All the parts are well played. Miss Busley scored an individual hit. Plenty of laughter and close attention throughout. Strong finish. Special in 3, 26 minutes. (Indianapolis)

Don, the Talking Dog

16 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. At both performances to-day Don lived up to the good reports that have preceded him from other cities. He worked splendidly, his various efforts at speech were greeted by frequent applause, while Loney Haskell kept the audience in good humor by his amusing line of talk. As a novelty “freak” act, Don made good. Closed big.

Vilmos Westony

18 minutes in one. this freak piano player gets a good deal of applause, but he is not a hit by any means. Considering the salary paid him, it is no wonder that Trovato and a few others are kicking. Would be well paid at one half the money he is getting.

Billy Burke’s Wild West

When this act is working a little smoother it ought to prove one of the big features acts of the season. The act is handicapped from lack of stage room. Act shows a frontier town with cowboys, broncho [sic] busters, lariat experts, etc., assembled for the frontier day celebration. The set looks well and the various features introduced proved entertaining, especially the lariat work and the sharpshooting, the latter being done by Frank McCrea. Some Indians are to be added to the act tomorrow to lend color. With the outside ballyhoo, the riding of the various members, this act ought to pull business in a normal week. Act is interspersed with some comedy. Own set in 4. Time 20 min.

Clara Ballerina

7 minutes. Garden. Full stage. European novelty artist. This woman stands alone in her particular line. She is really too well known to need any extended criticism, except to say that she has just as good an act as she ever had.

Landry Bros.

7 minutes. Full stage. Garden. Exploits on perpendicular ropes. This act is really a novelty and gets considerable applause. One of the best opening acts we have played.
