11 minutes in 1. This was only a fair act the dancing is very good but the boys should leave the singing and attempt at comedy severely alone. They get by very well, however, on the dancing.
Fashion-plate dancers. Man and woman. A very good act of its kind, well dressed and excelling in dancing. Make three changes of costume. Will hold this spot nicely anywhere. Special plush drop in 1. Time 14 min.
These boys are good dancers and ought to open any bill in a pleasing manner. In one.
A pair of fast steppers. A first class dancing act. Went very big. 10 minutes in one.
20 min. f.s. That the name of Loie Fuller has the box office value in Boston has been amply demonstrated. This feature was not announced until Saturday and by noon the advance sale had begun to boom. It kept up Sunday and this morning there was a line at the box office. This afternoon the house sold out completely in every part and there is no doubt about what brought the people here. The sale for the week is heavy, the biggest we have had since Peter. Miss Fuller is presenting the same “Ballet of Light: she gave at the Metropolitan and Boston opera houses with the exception that we are using only 7 girls all of whom are dancing barefooted, a number of dances including the Fire Dance. Considerable preparation was necessary for bringing this act into vaudeville after the more ambitious production and we were unable to have a good rehearsal, but notwithstanding that the act was put on in fairly good shape this afternoon and went big. The girls wear nothing but floating robes. The barelegged part of it might be considered sensational in spots, but it is the very same performance given in the opera houses.
Number two company, which is by no means as good as the one we had last week, but because of the great success of last week’s company they will no doubt get by. The playing of an act the second week has never heretofore been a success in this house. It remains to be seen whether or not this will be an exception. 20 min. F.S.
25 minutes f.s. This act has done so well for us here in Boston that I have made arrangements with Miss Fuller to duplicate it here and we have worked into it Mlle. Conda, a toe dancer, who was not, I regret to say, entirely satisfactory, but the Ballet made as big a hit as ever with some changes and there is no doubt it continues to draw us money besides Lauder opposition and some of the strongest shows the legitimate houses have made this season.
