PARKER TRIO.

14 Mins.; One. A ‘wop” comedian and two straight male singers in a typical small-time sure- lire arrangement of songs and released gags. Much of the comedy is derived from the linguistic ability of the three, taking turns in ono number in addressing the orchestra in Italian, Yiddish and another tongue.

TAPPAN and ARMSTRONG.

14 Mins.; One. These two girls have been with a legitimate production. For vaudeville they look like a strong combination through the “nut” comedy of the larger member. Opening with a straight double number, novelty southern number in which one carries the obligato. the straight solos, with comic interrupting and pulling “nut” stuff that caught on like wild fire at this house. ‘ The comedienne then sings in a colored dialect and “wise” delivery that temporarily held up the act. Her mugging in this number was classical.

PRESSLER and KLAISS.

Pressler is an eccentric comedian, sporting a flimsy swallow tail and an old opera hat. The why of the latter was disclosed when he doffed it and shook out a regular mop of yellow wire-hair. The thatch provoked continued giggles since it continued to wave with even’ motion and reminded one of the “Wild Man of Borneo.” He was at the piano and away from it for a number of bits that won fresh laughs. A broken knee bit was especially funny when he used his handkerchief for a bandage. Miss Klaiss reappeared with a change and they duetted with a comedy “blues” number…

Bob Hall

Extemporaneous comedian – singing and talking; he is very clever; makes most of his sayings and songs as he goes along – anyone in the audience of an act – 22 min in one went over very big.

Brendel & Burt

16 min. in 1. This couple do a good comedy act; the comedian being in a class by himself playing a Swedish character. The girls sings well, and their dance at the finish put the act over to a big hand.

Arnold & Taylor

Comedy songs and a little patter presented in an unusual manner. Their material is excellent and in the hands of better performers would no doubt be a real hit; as it is the act is only fair. 14 minutes in one.

Mabel Russell – Marty Ward & Co.

16 minutes in 1 & 1 1/2 . 5 men, 1 woman, Conglomeration of singing, talking and “nut” material by Marty Ward. The act was a little “loud” for this house, and while it seemed to have considerable pep, was not much of an applause getter. Finished fair.

Charles Reilly

The Irish-American humorist – makes-up very neat in evening clothes; singing popular Irish ballads and tells several Celtic stories; 15 min in one; went weak.

Whitney & Wilson

Those two eccentric girls – comedy talking and singing act; one coming from the audience. One of these girls very slim and the one who works in audience very stout was very amusing to the audience. 11 min in one; went good.

Pat Rooney & Marion Best

20 min. These two favorites were given a great welcome on their return after a long absence. The revived their old skit, “At the News Stand” with songs and dances and comedy talk and were just as big a hit as ever. Rooney did usual encore bit with the stage hand and also made a laughing with it.
