Carlotta

This thing to me is something of a “lemon”.  The Loop makes a big imposing appearance.  After a very bombastic speech by the Manager of the act, Carlotta comes out and does a few little dinky bicycle tricks: hardly as good as what she used to do when she did three shows a day.  Then she does the Loop-the-Loop stunt which makes the people gasp for a minute, and it is all over.  I question the value of the act very much.  13 min. full stage,  2 shows.

Bellong Brothers

Two men in straight balancing bicycle act. This is one of the most wonderful acts I have seen in a long while, and made a terrific hit. It will surely be talked about. Neat and novel work, and ranks with the best of European Acts. 12 minutes, full stage.

John & Louis Boller

Cyclists. 16 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:11. These people are certainly expert. Their act consists in not only the ordinary cycle feat there are some that are simply astounding, such as somersaults from a high pedestal, cycling on one wheel on tight wire, etc. Every one of their feats got a big hand, and the final one brought them two curtain calls. Placed her on the bill, this act makes a great hit.

Baker Troupe

Four men and a woman in comedy Bicycle act. The principle comedian is very funny, and they all do some very difficult and new tricks. It is a corking good closing act. I had to cut the “Loop the Loop” part of this act, as we did not have room on the stage for it, but the finish of the act received a big hand. 13 minutes, full stage.

John & Luis Boller

On at 4.04, 16 min, full stage. A really remarkable cycle act on the sensational order, something that of Ralph Johnstone, inasmuch as it includes some daring somersault work and a lot of jumping. In one item, however, it excels any bicycle act I have ever seen—the wonderful work upon a tight wire by the younger Boller, in which he uses both a unicycle and a bicycle. An act that is bound to cause a lot of talk. It must be taken in consideration that their stage act is not yet in really smooth working order, as they have just closed their circus season.

The Armstrongs

3 shows, 11 min, full stage. Three young men, two working straight and the other in eccentric makeup, in a comedy and trick bicycle riding. Their trick bicycle is good but their comedy is nothing much. It is an excellent act of this sort for the 3-a-day section nevertheless.

Ben Beyer

Comedy bicyclist and unicyclist works in tramp make-up. This man has a good act for an opener. He offers many tricks that are old and quite a number that are new. I consider it an exceptionally good act for the money. F.S. 11 minutes.

Campbell & Johnson

Comedy bicyclists: 22 min. F.S. 2 shows. Carry their own drops. One works tramp and the other sailor clown. I think any sort of bicycle act is as much a has-been as the bicycle is itself, — except, I might say, when they are introduced as many amusing novelties as these clever people put into their act, they introduce a series of very amusing feats on various kinds of bicycles and unicycles and hold the interest of the audience for about twice the length of an ordinary bicycle act. There is no end of rough-and-tumble fun, and a good closing feature for any show.

Campbell & Johnson

Bicyclists. 2 men. Both doing the comedy end. Some of the work is very good and the comedy is excellent. One of the men does a somersault from the stage over the footlights in the center of the aisle, thereby creating a tremendous laugh, which I am little afraid of, it being rather dangerous. The act as far as the trick work is concerned is the same as the Three Merrills. 15 min, full stage, 2 shows.
