Wormwood’s Monkey Theatre

This is perhaps the best animal act of its kind in this country. Wormwood has added two bears to his troupe. They are well trained, and the whole act can be called great. 25 mins. F.S.

Miett’s Dogs

15 mins. Gar. in 3. Some very pretty and clean dogs; a very neat dog act, somewhat out of the ordinary. Man was a little rough with the dogs, and this detracted some from the act. For a three-a-day act, it’s all right. It’s the man and not the dogs that keeps the act out of the two-a-day class.

Sam Watson’s Barn Yard Circus

Full stage-wood, 25 minutes. This act is a surely a novelty in the way of animal acts and could be improved very much. Mr. Watson’s idea of comedy is not good and we were compelled to cut his talking down quite a little. He wanted to do 25 minutes. We cut him down to about 19 and 15 minutes. However, it is going very well and feel sure that with a few weeks work that he will see the necessity of cutting out some of his English comedy.

Rose Wentworth Trio

Two men, a woman, two beautiful white horse of the Percheron Breed, a cart and coach horse dog make up this act. Miss Wentworth and one of the men is some remarkable good bareback riding, and the act itself is one of the best acts of this kin in vaudeville. It was recently a feature of Barnum & Bailey’s circus. 14 min, FS.

Mlle Chester and Statue Dog

The dog, Billy, is a beautiful white setter, beautiful as a picture. His eleven different poses are truly remarkable, as he remains as motionless as if carved from stone. The act is not only a novelty but is very pretty and gives the audience a genuine treat. 9 minutes, FS.

Woodford’s Animals

3 shows, 15 min, full stage. This man has two monkeys, two dogs and two ponies, one of the latter being the smallest equine in the world. He is not a quick qorker [sic] and the act suffers as a consequence. The material is there, for the simians and canines are tractable enough, but the fellow lacks snap. His stage trappings are taudry [sic] looking and his assistant is a sloppy looking individual. With all its shortcomings it made a hit with the holiday crowds, and will go big with the children during the week.

Claude Frederick and Pony Don

3 shows, 14 min opens full stage and closes 8 min in 1. This is a handsome and well educated pony and his trainor is of gentlemanly appearance. The act is a capital one for children, and in fact, for grown people as well, as it was applauded all through.

Herzog’s Horses

The stage of this theatre seemed to be especially well arranged for the handling of this act. A magnificent new circus set had been painted on three days’ notice, and as it was built especially for this stage it was made large enough so that the twelve horses were handled with the greatest ease. The act needs no comment. It was the feature of the Barnum & Bailey Circus, and is unquestionably the greatest act of the kind we have ever had. 20 min, Special Circus set. Full stage.

Rose Wentworth Trio

In an act of ‘Novel Horsemanship.’ This is a good act, in fact one of the best of the horse acts we have played, both in acrobatic stuff and the horsemanship is very good. There are three people in the act, two men and a woman. Runs about 8 minutes full stage.

Wentworth Horses

10 minutes, full stage-wood. Introducing three people, two horses and a cart. This act is away from the usual run of horse acts, consisting mostly of bareback riding. It is without a doubt the best horse act that we have played.
