15 mins. in one. Two girls, instrumental music, violin and piano. Very pretty girls, neatly and becomingly gowned. A really high-class musical offering that will go well with our audiences. One of the young ladies sings very sweetly Cole & Johnson’s Congo love song.
15 mins. Gar. in 3. Slack-wire. Has his usual 5 minutes of fun with the two property men, from which he extracts many laughs. Some of his work is a bit rough for this house. Got by with applause at the close.
15 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Three men, vocalists. One man lisps very badly, and it makes for unintentional comedy for the audience. When the trio sing, their voices blend nicely and they get by with applause. They could improve the act by entirely dropping the solo work.
15 mins. in one. Man and women, blackface singing and dancing and a little talk. Blockhead, fool, dumb-head and other things are mentioned in the talk, which is bad. Singing is not bad, but all their songs have been worked to death here – very old.
14 mins. Spec Drop in one. Man, woman, and boy, in a sketch, called “The Dallyhoe.” They found themselves in very stiff company down in this place, and while the sketch might prove a good act earlier on the bill, it tended to drop the show down a peg at this point.
20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Close in one. Always a big hit here. They sang “Big Indian Chief” that was written by them for the Mask & Wig Club of the University of Pennsylvania. They will draw trade from the University followers this week.
10 mins. Gar. in 3. Close in one. Two women and a man, in an instrumental musical act, during which the man plays two carnets at the same time. One of those acts that greatly please our audience. This act could make good anywhere on our bill. Very good.
20 minutes. G.D. Plain in 3. In their well known sketch “Why Dugan Swore Off.” Murphy’s quaint Irish talk was received with bursts of laughter and frequent applause. Good act.
11 mins. Gar. in 3. Two men, acrobats. One does contortion work; other rube comedy. Comedy is poor. Contortion and acrobatic work is good in spots. Good for three-a-day section.
23 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Man and woman, in Edmund Day’s sketch, “Raising the Wind.” There seems to be material in the sketch for many good laughs. Perhaps these people do not get the most of the material. They received some laughs in spots. Good for three-a-day section.
