Character sketch entitled “Cinders,” in which Miss Robson takes the character of an English “slavey,” being supported by two men. The sketch is all talk, is devoid of life and action, and is not at all suited to our audiences here. There is not a smile in the act, and had it not been the headline act, would have been closed after the first show. Kitchen in three. 24 minutes.
Monologue entitled “An Afternoon Tea.” It is really a little confidential talk to the audience. The act is good, somewhat out of the ordinary, and seemed to thoroughly please the audience. A good act. All in one. 15 minutes.
A corking good act. Better scenery and better show than Holdin gave. Will stand all sorts of billing. Full stage. 32 minutes.
Tough character sketch entitled “Mrs. Murphy and the Kids.” Described by Mr. Hodgson last week. Our audience never heard of them and consequently the work was strictly on its merits. Received a few laughs now and then, but just about got by in first place in the two-show section. All in one. 16 minutes.
Two men: character singing comedians. One of their bits is the lighthouse scene from “Shore Acres.” Good act for the three show section. All in one. 14 minutes.
Man and woman. Singing and dancing act, with some talk. Woman works straight; man as comedian. Woman has a poor voice, and it detracts from the act: otherwise the act is not bad. Good enough for a time filler in the three show section. All in one 15 minutes.
Singing and dancing specialties to open with, then some trick banjo playing, closing with song and dance. Good little three show act. All in one. 13 minutes.
23 mins. in one. Two men, talking act, one man working as a messenger boy; other as an actor. One of those crazy talking acts, so full of nonsense that everyone seems to laugh and all appear to thoroughly enjoy the comedy. Very good act.
20 mins. Spec. in 5. Same company as the Hoosier Zouaves, doing a similar act, with added spectacular effects: fireworks, battleship, a town burning, etc. A good act of the “thriller” class. They have a lot of stuff to handle in the way of props and scenery, and the act will go well when it works well. Good act.
22 mins. C.D.F. in 3, close in one. Man, woman and two young colored boys, doing their “restaurant” sketch. A good, lively comedy act. Was received with laughter and applause throughout. Very good act.
