Musical Comedy Melange. They might as well call it that as anything else. Really the weakest act on the bill but get by because it is so well covered up. The man is quite funny in his eccentric dancing and his English songs get over. The woman is the poorest apology of an amateur it has ever been my lot to witness. She is young and rather good looking by sadly lacks training. Olio in 1. Time 12 min.
Musical clowns. Two boys in clown makeup in a fast eccentric musical comedy act with acrobatics and one the best opening acts we have this season. One of the boys is handicapped in his working through straining the ligaments in his back last week. Act was well received and got applause all through. Act will do well as an opener on any bill. Garden in 3. Can do 3 min. in 1. Time 10 min.
When this act is working a little smoother it ought to prove one of the big features acts of the season. The act is handicapped from lack of stage room. Act shows a frontier town with cowboys, broncho [sic] busters, lariat experts, etc., assembled for the frontier day celebration. The set looks well and the various features introduced proved entertaining, especially the lariat work and the sharpshooting, the latter being done by Frank McCrea. Some Indians are to be added to the act tomorrow to lend color. With the outside ballyhoo, the riding of the various members, this act ought to pull business in a normal week. Act is interspersed with some comedy. Own set in 4. Time 20 min.
“One Christmas Eve.” This is a sketch by Will M. Cressy and is quite amusing, though there are several spots where the action drags a trifle. If these spots can quickened Davis will have an act that should prove a laughing hit on any hill. Act is well played. C.D.Fcy in 3. Time 18 min.
“Kids and Kidders.” There is something lacking this act to make it a success. Miss Carlisle is as dainty a little girl as when she was working with Sager Midgely but she lacks good material in the present vehicle. Act in its present form will no do for the big time. C.D.Fcy in 3. Time 13 min. close in 1.
Singing comedienne. This girl has a good personality and has a collection of songs that carry her over in good shape. She sang 4 today with a change for each. Good value for any manager in this spot. Olio in 1. Time 12 min.
Equilibrists. Man and woman. As good an opening act as we have ever had in the house. Some of their feats are sensational, act is well dressed and the trappings look well. This act will make a great opener in any house. Garden in 3. Time 10 min.
A couple of nifty talk-swappers. The old Wynne & Lewis act with some new material that landed in great shape today and held this spot admirably.
With Sybil Maitland. I had some serious doubts about this act registering today as our people have not been educated up to the barefoot dancing standard. I am pleased to announce that the act went over in very good shape at the matinee, the various dances being well applauded and there being four good curtain calls at the finish. Never have I seen a better looking lot of young girls in any ensemble act. One of them in particular caught the fancy of the audience and nearly everyone was talking about her ravishing as they left the theatre. The dances are modestly performed and at no time is there a display of the human figure that could possibly offend anyone. The act is a bright, vivid, intense, gorgeous chromatic dispersion of light and color that should appeal to the artistic sense of intelligent people. For a first time performance the act went very smoothly but will be much better before the end of the week. Mrs. Alex. Comstock, under whose direction the act was produced, is to be complimented for the splendid manner in which she has staged the production. Own act in 4. Time 27 min.
“Winning on Wind.” 5 people. This is a very amusing comedy sketch that had our audiences laughing incessantly from the start. Think it one of the best things McCord has ever done and act should prove a big laughing feature on any bill. C.D.Fcy in 3. Time 22 min.
