"Bouffe Variety," or as the program states "Bouffes Varieties," has Miss Suratt changing her costume on several occasions and singing songs, often with dialogue. There is also a chorus of eight girls. The second performance is by Jos. C. Smith and a young woman. The duo make the most of their limited time. Others in the company include Fletcher Norton, Vincent Bryan, Ray Goetz and Al Plantadosa. The piece ends with Miss Suratt dressed as a bride, accompanied by Norton.
The act is missing a strong chorus. The girls ruin all of the songs and music despite their hard work. Miss Suratt's opening number, "Springtime," is just barely teetering on the side of pretty. Mr. Norton is ill supported by the chorus, thus causing his pieces to be unappreciated. The music begins at a fast pace causing one to think some action is about to occur, but it suddenly slows. Overall the finish is not strong: there is no novelty, the chorus clashed, and other various reasons caused this 33 minute act to seem too long.
