The house gains a larger capacity from its width, a feature of theatre construction which, where possible, brings the stage “to the audience” helping the performance.
The performance of "The Follies" was criticised closely at the opening of the new Columbia theatre.
There was a "wise bunch" on hand who laughed at it frequently, but most would not cease comparing the show to "$2 productions," though the chorus girls won favorable comments for their hard work.
