"Scribner's Big Show", featuring Lillian English. Clara Raymond sang "Somebody Ought to Tell Her Husband", and sang "Harvest Moon" with William Maussey. They also sang "If I Could Gain the World by Wishing". "The Lovin' Kid " sung by John Lorenze, was nicely blended. The first part is "Tourists in Egypt," retaining "the Mummy" of Falardo and the specialty of John Lorenze, "The Crazy Musician," during which Mr. Lorenze has an eccentric dance with a wonderful step, causing bewilderment aa to how the balance is maintained during the execution. His piano work and comedy, assisted by Mr. Mausey, was nothing short of a "riot." With the exeeption of the "salaam" and "bug" bits, the fun has been derived from old timers. The burlesque was "The Carnival of Venice". Jean Bedini also stars.
Tuesday night at the Murray Hill, the house was sold out, and the comedians made the audience (containing at least 2OO- women) laugh continually to the last minute, without causing the most modest of the gentler sex a suspicion of a blush.
With the "Big Show" now, the pieces are lively and fast running, excepting a sag at the opening of the first part. This ought to be closed up, but H is not so readily noticeable as the drag In the olio caused by too many acts, including a couple which should, not be there at all. One is the Columbia Musical Quintet.
