This sketch entitled “Helping the Cause” was twenty-two minutes long on the full stage. Mrs. Langtry plays a militant suffragette in a sketch first shown in London. The piece was funny, but most of the satire was lost on the New York audience who is not acquainted with the intricacies of the English suffragette movement.
Since the audience will not understand most of the satire, the sketch falls into the category of an average farce. It will have to rely on the star power of the sixty-three year old Mrs. Langtry to keep going. She looks incredibly young for her age and did not appear to look any older next to the doctor in his twenties. The sketch will likely not succeed in New York, however.
