The acrobatic, musical comedy, "Monkey Shines," is a novelty at best. The acrobatic member of the company is seated in a coconut tree while the beasts and reptiles of the African interior are below. The man "monk" firing coconuts at them. Dolores plays the classic jungle maid, rifle in hand. She enters the jungle in search of her pet monkey. She sings a number, and after some "monkey shines," a Zulu warrior enters in full Torrid Zone regalia and exits with the monkey in pursuit. The "monkey" does some neat work on an upright pole. The act closes with Dolores and the Zulu king in a duet, the man's voice standing out strongly. A baby monkey is introduced on stage and a crocodile swallows the man-monkey.
