"The Poison Kiss" - This pantomimic sketch is shown for the first time in America. The dance was suggested by Max Pemberton's "Lucretia Borgia." The story is set in Venice when licentiousness was rampant. Giavanni possesses himself of a young girl whom he betrays and eventually dies. Her sister, Lucretia is determined to avenge her death. He believes Lucretia is bewitched by his charms but instead she has a poison on her lips. He suspects this, but is too caught up in his passion. When they kiss he falls dead.
Miss Deverez is a handsome, well rounded young girl. She and her male assistant are both very clever. The dancing and pantomime are of fine order. The big applause at the end was well deserved.
