“1911 Review” – The clever pair offer eight different numbers in 29 minutes, the first of which is a long series of imitations of well-known stage celebrities. Those are done by throwing costume pictures of the various personages over a "fence" and having Mr. McWatters and Miss Tyson make-up for the heads only. They follow this with a travesty on “The Lily,” Miss Tyson providing an excellent imitation of Nance O’Neill while Mr. McWatters “feeds” her. Their third selection is a yodeling rag and the fourth a recitation by McWatters entitled “My Old Chum,” a pathetic recital of the good qualities of a dog as a friend. Their fifth was Miss Tyson’s impersonations of “The Debutante,” the “Sling Slang Girl” and “Their Old Man.” The sixth selection was a burlesque of the courtroom scene in “Madame X,” by McWatters. Number seven was “Tiger Love,” depicting the light and shade in a woman with a predilection for intense infatuation, and as a finale, they perform a satire on several of the recently presented "love dances."
The entire offering is designed to be the most pretentious thing. By eliminating one or two numbers, condensing it to 20 or 22 minutes, the act will be much more effective. In its current state, one gets the impression that quality is sacrificed for quantity. In this age of specializing, one does not secure proper credit for versatility.
