As only the third or fourth female ventriloquist to appear in New York, the novelty has not yet worn off. Arriving one week later, her act appears very similar to her brother's, Lawrence Johnston. Miss Johnston uses a single "dummy" and she performs eating and drinking feats, although not with the ease of others. Her biggest problem is that she can get no comedy over by herself; all of the comedy comes through the "dummy." She should cut her 15 minute act by at least 3 or 4 minutes and find new material separate from that of her brother's. To continue the novelty of a female ventriloquist she should also employ a "dummy" of a little girl rather than that of a boy.
