“Jule” – Joe Bailey, the moonshiner, his daughter, Jule, and a young helper are in the interior of a mountain cave which hides a whiskey still. Several years earlier, Jule had fallen in love with a city chap who failed to make good on his promise to marry her. Her father engages her to his helper, Dave, which the girl agrees to. Left alone in the cave, Jule recalls her teaching to “make it right with God.” When a woman from a camping party enters the cave accidentally, Jule must keep the “guest” until her father returns. Conversation reveals that the girl’s finance is blind, and is the same man who had previously promised to marry Jules. The “cave girl” had blinded the man with lye at their parting. Jule plots revenge, then thinks better of it and decides to let the girl escape. Her father is furious, believing Jule is hiding her former lover. He goes to shoot “him” but the shot fatally wounds Jule.
Miss Cole plays Jule with much feeling. Her support is also very strong, the role of the father excellently played. The dialect at times suffers.
