Saxophone and jokes.
With some jokes so old they sounded new, he had the audience in their first good humor of the evening.
He is telling a couple of gags out of Nat Wells' "Hortense" patter, but probably Nat has dropped them long ere this. Beside this Wells plays the saxophone in corking good style. He had to come back and do some more after the orchestra had played the introduction for the next act. For an encore Wells played one of Gene Stratton's hits famous in England.
