Her "impromptu" asides didn't raise so much as a snicker.
While the comedic style of the "Gilbert and Filbert" number 'made' the comedian Basil Hallman, it is clear that "Miss Clifford isn't a comedienne". Her singing wasn't anything special either, failing to get over even the "performer-proof" number, "Araby".
