This baseball act entitled “Inside Baseball” was twelve minutes long on the full stage. John J. McGraw is a baseball player and manager turned monologist. He tells four or five stories about baseball and is accompanied by a young pitcher named Mathewson.
The audience gave McGraw a reception that Roosevelt would be proud of. It was a full three minutes before the cheers died down. His stories amused the audience. At the finish, flowers were thrown over the footlights and the audience demanded a speech. Mathewson complied.
He tells his stories well and with interest. Once he has some more practice, he can become a regular monologist. If he can replicate his current success, he will be a box office hit.
