"The Butterfly" - Jimmy, the son of a wealthy contractor, becomes infatuated with an actress, "The Butterfly." The feelings are mutual and they become engaged. Jimmy's father does not approve and buys off the Butterfly. The son soon discovers his father's involvement in the breakup and assumes him to be his rival. The father gives the actress the agreed upon $5000, which she then refuses to take; money is not worth what Jimmy means to her. The father repents and insists his son marry the girl.
Either this sketch has been performed before on vaudeville or it is very similar to something previously offered. The piece has a few scattered laughs but nothing to assure its success. Jere Grady plays the Irish contractor well, although not all together getting the spirit of the it, but his supporting cast falls short.
