"The Phone Girl" is about Miss Annabelle (Dara), the phone girl in the Grand hotel; Myrtle, her blond, stage struck friend; Georgie, her "fe-an-say"; and Bob Richmond, the glue drummer from Chicago. Myrtle and Annabelle have some fun with the wire callers. Bob and Myrtle are sweet on each other, and Annabelle is stuck on Georgie, who would give her a diamond bracelet without batting an eyelid. Georgie and Annabelle have a squabble. The plot thickens as it seems Bob and Annabelle are two turtle doves, but the audience knows they are just good friends. Georgie is sore, but after Bob and Myrtle do a "Gotch and Hackenschmidt," Annabelle throws up her job and throws her arms around Georgie.
Chewing the rag and a big hunk of gum at the same time is hard work but Miss Dara is there like a duck; it is the best thing in the act. Miss Dara does several excellent "bits" but runs beyond the time limit.
