"Get-Poor-Quick Wellington" - The duo use a special drop which shows a French bathing beach, with a dressing tent, Haviland appears in full dress, but wearing a pair of bathing trunks while Miss Thornton wears a bathing suit. Their specialty song is "It Was Just on the Tip of My Tongue." The title of the act is only apparent with a two minute explanation as to who Haviland is. It goes without a laugh except for mention of investing all his money into ham sandwiches for a picnic, only to find a gathering of Hebrews.
A number of years ago, Butler Haviland and Alice Thornton would have received a cordial welcome, however there was no abundance of enthusiasm over their new sketch.
The patter is light, but good. However, it needs to be cut wherever there is not a laugh. Once this is done, it will be a good act. Haviland's personality and long legs carry the act. The act will be improved by fifty percent if the duo perform more songs like their specialty and provide a more speedy encore. There are so many possibilities for this act that it would be a crime not to work them up.
