Singing and jokes.
Harry Jolson makes the same mistake. He has a splendid voice for singing, but no delivery for comedy. He should, therefore, do nothing but songs. But he will spill gags. They forgive Harry for his comedy because he's a Jolson and because he sings them into forgiveness, but the going would be better if he stuck to the songs.
