Twenty-seven hundred people paid to see Houdini escape from a heavy dry goods box. Steel handcuffs and iron shackles were placed on the performer before he was lifted into the box. Heavy ropes were tied around the box which the packers pulled as tight as possible. A carpet was placed under the box to prevent trap doors. After twenty minutes Houdini escaped.
