This sketch entitled “At Clifton Corners” was fifteen minutes long on the full stage. The backdrop is a painting of wheat fields and a log fence. There is a watering trough onstage. A girl enters on a bicycle and strikes up a conversation with a farmer. The farmer tells her about his experiences in New York and about his farm. For the finish, she falls into the water trough.
"The audience laughed at intervals, but did not give the couple much applause at the finish."
The monologue would do nicely in three or four minutes, but stretching it to twelve slowed down the act completely. If it were preceded and followed by fast paced acts it could fit in well, but if not the act could really slow down a show.
