"One Night Only" is essentially a paraphrase of "Town Hall To-night," as nearly the same "heart interest" story is used. The business and dialogue are reminiscent of other acts which Cressy has been identified with. The most apparent one is the entrance of Miss Dayne in an auto mobile which breaks down in the center of the stage, immediately bringing to mind Harry Tate's "Motoring."
New York has long since outlived this sort of "oakum" and now looks for originality. After a three year leave from the West, Cressy returns with simply a replica of previous works.
