Herman's act is a novelty in that minstrelsy has become a lost art. Each performer is "blacked up" while performing their individual specialities. The hit of the act was that of a female impersonator whose "high valler" complexion and attractive evening wear had everyone forgetting he was a man.
Herman receives a lot of applause. His actors receive even more, resulting in many curtain calls.
