The action takes place in the yard of a Mulberry St. tenant. The old man has seen better days and is still happy despite everything. He is in the yard with traps and is joined by a little girl of a neighboring tenant. They have a strong friendship. An Irishwoman joins the scene from the window overlooking the yard. The story starts when the old man tried to get back money he left with the corner saloon keeper for safe keeping. The saloon keeper is a villain and will not give up the money. After some back and forth the villain is routed.
Whoever selected the cast deserves commendation for the players are worthy of something better, not that "Mulberry" is a poor sketch. The old man is excellently played in a quiet and effective manner. The little girl and Irishwoman handle their roles well. The villain is a minor role but satisfactorily handled. The piece falls just short of being a big comedy number. There is not quite enough to carry it through the pathetic route. It will do well for the small "big time."
