Sketch, 18 minutes, F.S. 3 people. They make the most possible cut of a sketch which seems to be lacking in opportunities for the talents which we know these people to possess. Just one dramatic situation at the close gives it a dash of life and vigor. On the whole rather weak.
‘Behind the Scenes,’ 18 minutes. F.S. Lady & man. Good act affording much hilarity by breezy comedy, and bright repartee. Vocal renditions well done, and the costuming worthy of special mention. Met with big success from the audience.
Juggling and shadowgraph, 15 min. F.S. Lady. Man. Some new and novel feats of jugglery by the man, coupled with some exceptionally clever work in shadowgraphy by the lady constitutes an act which is particularly good and went well with the audience.
Singing and dancing, 24 min. F.S. 8 people. Owing to illness of one of the members of Knight Bros. and Sawtells this act was obliged to cancel. We secured The Scotch Kilties who show much ability in Scottish airs and dances and were a big favorite with the house.
Acrobats, 6 minutes, F.S. 3 men. Good acrobatic act, disclosing many difficult tricks performed in a masterly way. Audience greatly interested, and liked them immensely.
Piano and singing, 10 minutes (1). Good act with voices rich in quality making the various vocal renditions exceptionally good, and eliciting good applause from a highly appreciable audience.
Comedy playlet, 23 minutes, C.D.F. 5 people. Good act, the little fellow making a big hit with [sic] his really clever comedy; The remaining members are all good aiding to the success of the playlet which went good.
Violin and singing, 14 minutes (1) 2 men. Fairly good act; The singer has got a bad cold which mars his work some but the other is great with the violin making a good hot with his different selections.
The closing act was also great, musicians of much skill; The Darlington Trio who Im sure could head most any bill; Upon a large variety of instruments they play; and we have had none better here with us in many a day; The audience liked them greatly, and sent them off with much acclaim; And if we always had a show like this, ours would be undying fame!
And next upon our program came a very clever team; who easily surpass all other acts like this I seen; An act already known to fameis [sic] this Spencer and Brown; And they have surely stirred things up a bit here in our town; The singing of the lady is exceptionally grand; And shows why ‘In the Candle Light’ is known throughout the land; the big applause which greeted them was of the heartiest kind; And a better act of this sort, I am sure one could not find.
