Colored comedians and singers, 17 minutes (1). Good act, the hit of the bill; comedy occasions roars of laughter, and their singing is very well done. Received tremendous applause, and deservedly so, for as fun makers they are one of the best teams seen here in many a day.
Singing comedienne, 10 minutes (1). Fairly good act; the singing is not phenomenal, but whatever is lacking in this department, she easily makes up for by some very clever dancing. A well-gowned act, particularly her first number, which she dresses very appropriately.
12 minutes, full stage, special set. Lady and man. Little change in the act since last seen here. Selections rendered very antiquated, and the effects utilized have been in use by these two for so long a time that the novelty has quite worn off. Fair applause at the finish.
Chimpanzee, 15 minutes, full stage. A wonderful trained animal, quite the best yet seen here. His manny [sic] clever tricks brought good applause, while his comedy antics were responsible for a perfect uproar of tumultuous laughter. An emphatic and unprecedented hit.
12 minutes (1) lady and man. Fairly good act, opening in a lively way with a rapid sally of wit, bright, sparkling, effervescent, full of light, life, laughter, but it falls away somewhat toward the end, and they are not so happy in the closing number, albeit, the audience enjoyed, and the applause was generous.
17 minutes full stage special stage. 2 ladies. 4 men. Offering vocal selections well rendered and heartily received. The DePace Bros. in instrumental selections, mandolin and guitar, achieve real distinction and their success was instantaneous and unmistakable. The final tribute was gratifying, assuring the success of the offering.
Blackface comedian, 13 minutes (1). He suffers nothing by his re-appearance here, the audience welcoming his as a truly old friend, and responding with hearty and incessant laughter to his running talk, including as it does, the very quintessence of black-face fun. A real substantial hit.
Cartoonist, 12 minutes (1). Good act, in fact quite the best cartoonist we have yet presented; Working with great rapidity he keeps the interest well sustained, and with a delightful vein of comedy permeating the act, the presentation is worthy from every point of view.
Comedy musical, 14 minutes F.S. Fairly good act, and considering the great amount of ‘brass’ utilized it falls short in point of volume. The efforts of the comedian are rather futile and it was difficult at times to provoke the risibilities [sic] of the audience with his rather weak attempts at comedy. In a big feature act of the pretensions of this one, one might reasonably expect them to accomplish more than is done by these performers, who, all things considered are rather a disappointment [sic].
Club jugglers, 9 minutes (2) Special drop. 2 men. Good juggling act displaying considerable digital dexterity in the manipulation of clubs, their entire performance being given in such a manner as to win gratifying applause.
