27 minutes, 27 minutes, open in two, close full stage, special drop. 1 lady. 15 men. With but one exception, the program in its entirety is identical with that offered during their visit here, and it has lost none of its entertaining power. The reception accorded the players last evening was tumultuous, the applause being well-nigh deafening and they responded to curtain after curtain. As was the case when first seen here, their presence has caused a sensation, and they are the main topic in amusement circles here. A most emphatic success.
Illusionist, 18 minutes, full stage, special set. Best illusion act ever seen here. He is truly a master of his art, and his many amazing experiments are performed in a highly dexterous and skillful manner, that fills all beholders with amazement and makes them recall again the wonderful hours they spent with the Arabian Nights, and all the enchantments contained there-in.
Eccentric dancing, 10 minutes (1) 2 men. Exceptionally good, in fact the best dancing act seen here in an extremely long time. Some of their steps are truly marvelous and the skill they display is wonderful. Plenty of laughs too by their comedy interpolations.
Miss Franklin went exceedingly well. Sang seven or eight songs, all of which were appreciated and got plenty of laughs and applause. While a good deal of her stuff was probably not understood by out of town visitors, she nevertheless made a hit and I look for a bigger one the remainder of the week. 33 minutes F.S.
About as interesting a feature as we have had in many a day. The man who does the talking has a particularly fine enunciation, the text is well out together, and the pictures are very good. The sort of thing that is bound to interest at this particular time when all eyes are turned to South America. 27 minutes with the audience interested every moment and a good hand at the finish. All in one.
Man and woman in a skit playing upon doctors’ technicalities from which they get considerable fun and finish with some singing and dancing, the woman being an especially good dancer of the high kicking type. 17 minutes open F.S. about five minutes in one.
Sketch, 15 minutes C.D.F. 2 people. Good act undoubtedly for an audience that likes the sketch idea of entertainment; but our town does not take kindly to sketches and the ‘heart interest’ idea in which this sketch abounds does not prevail to any great extent in making a lasting or favorable impression upon our audience. Consequently its reception was rather tame, and there was no noticeable demonstration at its close.
Vocal, 13 minutes (1). Good act, displaying good voices in a repertoire of well selected songs ranging from operatic to the more popular melodies of the moment. Attractive in appearance, and with aid of beautiful costumes the girls are good to look upon.
9 minutes full stage special set. Exceptionally fine exhibition of animal training, in fact, one of the very best dog acts that has as yet played here, but in view of this town’s antipathy to animal acts they do not cause the enthusiasm here that they might command elsewhere: This act also played the opposition here about three seasons ago and this act has its effect upon the reception of the act at the hands of our audience many of whom have already seen it, which fact alone would materially hurt the act, especially as a feature for us.
Harp & Violin. 13 minutes (1). Good act, offering an attractive program of selections. His work on the violin is fully adequate, but it is his exceptionally superb renditions on the guitar that make his performance such a signal success, and awoke the audience to a full recognition of his worth as a very capable and talented entertainer.
