Jolly, Wild & Co.

Two men, one woman in a variety skit, “First Aide to the Melancholy.” The woman does a “straight”, one man comedy, the other an English “Johnnie.” The work consists of singing, talking and piano playing, all of which is good. The act held the attention from the beginning and made a most favorable impression throughout. Finished strong. 18 minutes, conservatory in One.

Lou Anger

“The German Soldier.” His dialect monologue went very well from beginning to end. He won a lot of laughs, held the attention all the way through and finished strong. Street in One, 14 min.

Dolan & Lenharr

In “Some Mind Reader.” This is a comedy sketch built around the idea of the feminine mind reader and her manager. The act is an excellent laughing number all the way through. Dolan impersonates an investigator, supposedly a member of the audience, who gets into the story for the purpose of seeing whether or not the mind reading is the real article. There are a lot of comedy lines and laughs galore. A peculiar feature of the act is that the audience thoroughly enjoys it and yet does not really know whether it is a “kid” or a real exhibition of second sight. Went big all the way through and finished strong.  25 minutes, palace in 3.

Hathaway, Kelley & Mack

Young man and two young women in a variety singing and dancing act. Some of their work is good, some only fair. All in all they got along first rate and finished moderately strong. Not a hit but fairly pleasing.

The Conventrys

2 men, 1 woman, in a novelty musical act consisting of work on xylophone, French horns, chimes, etc. They play very well and make a nice appearance. The act was pleasing all the way through and it finished moderately strong. 12 min., special set in 3.

Tasmanian-Van Dieman Troupe

Six girls in an acrobatic offering the novelty of which consists of some serial iron jaw work by various members of the organization. Sort of flying ballet effect. The act is well dressed, but there is nothign [sic] especially remarkable about it. The pyramid and acrobatic work is only fair. The act held attention but that is about all. Finished moderately strong. 8 minutes, garden in 5.

Howard & Howard

Quite a bit of new material and some of the old, this time doing what they term “The Porter and the Salesman.” Won a lot of laughs and proved very successful, although they had a hard time at the beginning, due no doubt to following the act preceding. Finished strong. 19 minutes, street in 1.

Oscar Loraine

Portean [sic] Violinist. Presented the same act he has done here before and did very well. His comedy numbers were the biggest hits. Held the attention and finished fairly strong. 17 minutes, special in 2, close in 1.

John F. Wade & Co.

In “Masse’s Chicken Dinner.” This is an interesting little sketch with a pretty story well worked out. Mr. Wade’s impersonation of the old negro servant is a very good piece of character acting. The old judge and his daughter were very well played and the entire offering proved successful. Finished moderately strong. Plain chamber, 2 ½, 20 minutes.
