The Baggesens

Many and woman: The former extracts quite a bit of laughter by breaking up a lot of china and the latter does some very ordinary juggling.  — Decidedly not a pretty act to the eye and one that makes but a fairly favorable impression. – 14 minutes C.D.F.

The Musical Avolos

Positively the best xylophone artists that have ever appeared on the local stage.  – Their work was a revelation to all present and they finished great.  An unquestioned hit.  12 minutes in one.

A. O. Duncan

American’s Representative Ventriloquist.  Act very well known on Circuit and am sorry to say that Mr Duncan has very little new material.  He uses the same old fore figures and mostly all of his old gags, including the telephone and cabinet, for which he uses the very same dialogue he has used before that I know of.  Act went only fair but received quite a bit of applause with his imitations.  Interior 19 minutes.  Close 2 minutes in one.

Houdini

Went great.  Did handcuff and shackle stunts. – Also trunk trick. – Got out of everything in which he was fastened and very quickly.  He has everybody talking and the outlook is that he will more than make a hit here this week.  – This is really the first set we have had since the house opened that I can honestly say has drawn a dollar into the house individually.  Palace: 28 minutes.

Ramzetta and Lyman

Man and Woman comedy acrobatic act. – The man does some very good falls but none that are new or that seemed to make a particularly favorable impression. – His stunts are well executed but I could not see any that had not been done by others in acts of the same style.  – The woman puts in the greater part of her time in running about the stage doing nothing worth noting.  – The act did not even get a hand at the finish. – This is rather unusual for even an opener here but may have been caused through the expectancy of seeing Houdini who is the feature of this bill. – 11 minutes in garden.

The Vivians

Sharpshooters. – Man and woman: Both do excellent work with guns and revolvers. – An act that went big and one that must be credited with making a most substantial hit.  Garden: 17 minutes.

Zeha Ezifr

A clevery little girl who sings three songs and does a dance to the entire satisfaction of all who hear and see her.  She opened the show but notwithstanding this fact made a distinct hit and would no doubt have gone better further down on the bill.  Opens in one and finishes in two.  – 12 minutes.

Gardner and Maddern

A very tiresome comedy sketch entitled “Too Many Darlings” – It was very difficult for them to convince the audience that they possessed the slightest merit. – The woman was suffering with a very severe cold which may have hampered them some, but all in all “Too Many Darlings” is NOT what they want in Columbus.  C.D.F. 24Min.

The O’Kabe Family

Japanese set composed of seven people. – Nothing better has been seen on the local stage.  – Work consists of a great variety of tumbling, foot juggling, hand balancing etc.  all of which is accomplished with remarkable cleverness. – The act is the biggest sort of hit and just the thing for Columbus.  – They used for the first time here today a new special set that is very beautiful and which adds greatly to the general excellence of their act.  – 16 minutes interior special set

Norton and Nicholson

Comedy Sketch: “Ella’s All Right.”  — Man and woman.  – Theme: burlesque showing the troubles of a poor young couple in a flat. – Many lines that get good laughs. – This is a very good act for this house. – Has lots of comedy both in the lines and as to action. – 22 minutes interior room in flat.
