The act has a scoundrel, a woman who steals from society people for the scoundrel, and a detective who is looking for the scoundrel. The girl thief is "tired of it all," having just returned from a society function. The detective is in love with the girl, not knowing she is the thief he is looking for. He is in her house and discovers she is the thief. He arrests the old scoundrel but allows the girl to go. She then makes a speech saying, "It is such men as these that make good women of us all."
