The program gives credit for the authorship to Herbert Hall while the three-sheets outside the theatre state the playlet is by Arthur Wing Pinero. Either one or both should be proud to be connected to this authorship of this piece.
"The Strongest Link" is a miniature of "Music Master" in the sense that it resembles the love of a father for his daughter. The similarity is confined to the "If you don't want her, I want her" scenario. The scene takes place in the library of David Aaronson, a millionaire Hebrew from Russia, who left behind his young wife and child whom he was to send for once he gained prosperity. While in America, a band of Russian marauders massacred his home village, killing his wife and many others. The fate of his child is unknown. After wealth finds the unhappy man, he seeks solace with a young American woman who marries him solely for his money. All the while he continues to look for his daughter. It is learned that his new wife and her brother regard Mr. Aaronson as below them in the social scale. When the child is found the new Mrs. Aaronson and her brother suggest that the child not be made part of the family, simply provided for from afar. The father finds himself in an excellent tactical position and orders his brother-in-law from his house. The wife remains til morning.
While Harry First is the star, the best part falls to Florence Hadley, as the long-lost daughter. She rises to heights that bespeak great promise. Mr. First is entitled to some praise as there is not a weak spot in his acting.
