Romeo is an unusually large specimen of his species.
The chimpanzee is almost human; in fact, Romeo comes nearer to the Darwinian theory of the missing link than any specimen of the animal kingdom ever before brought before an audience of playgoers.
He appears in evening clothes, just like some other entertainers, orders his dinner, uses a finger bowl, tips the waiter, light and smokes a cigarette, removes his shoes and clothing and goes to bed, does a clever trick riding bicycles, and plays the piano. In the last instance it can be seen that Romeo lacks a musical ear, but just the same it's wonderful.
