This sketch entitled “The Record Breaker” was fifteen minutes long.
The setting is a phonograph emporium. Grace La Rue enters with her maid and is dressed in yellow. She sings three songs along with the phonograph record and makes costume changes for each. For the finish, she sings the aria from “Madame Butterfly” accompanied by Caruso on the phonograph.
Her best number is the one with Caruso. The others are not worth the effort. The sketch is very "slight" but it allows La Rue an opportunity to demonstrate her Parisian trained voice.
