They have a couple of numbers that are gems. One is a “Hick” selection, sung as a duet, and the other, “Fear Not,” a “nance” song, is handled by Mr. Cullen. Cullen then performed a “rag” and Miss Ward followed immediately after.
Ward and Cullen’s act is a regular act, one that can step into any bill in the country or England, and take care of it. Each is a real performer. The last thing suspected was that Cullen could do a “cissy” number, but the song stands without a competitor. The opening seems to have had trouble. They needed an encore badly, but they cleaned up the show with ease. Miss Ward held onto one dress throughout the act, proving that a good looking girl with ability can entertain an audience without making a dressmaking freak out of herself. The names “Ward and Cullen” are reminiscent of many others on the stage; the team should consider changing the billing or prefix their first names.
