Joe. E. Howard and Mabel McCane

Mr. Howard has two dandy songs in this act. The first he does in "one" at the start of the act. Miss McCane does not appear until the drop goes down on the parlor setting. Miss McCane sings and then there is a dialogue. They regained good graces after the dialogue when they sang "Just A Little Smile." They also perform "Lindy," a "coon" song reminiscent of "Mandy." They were forced to return and sing the chorus of Howard's first song twice before they were allowed to depart.
The dialogue may have passed in Harlem, but it will be difficult to make people believe it is funny further downtown. They both have splendid voices. The turn is bound to improve, the weakness in the talk easily remedied.
