After a three year absence, Kelly has returned with a budget of new stories, "The Virginia Judge." Prior to his routine of stories, he relates a couple of incidents alleged to have occurred during his tour of the world. The first is about an Irishman in Dublin who applied for a room at the Hotel Metropole, Dublin, and insisted on getting room 37. The clerk informs him that room 37 is already occupied by a "Mr. O'Reilly," to which the man replies that he is "Mr. O'Reilly" and that he had just fallen out of the window.
He received as warm a welcome as could possibly be wished for. Kelly's "Mr. O'Reilly" story brought down the house.
Kelly is in a class by himself in vaudeville - or out of it. He is as unique and refreshing as his namesake, the late J. W. Kelly - but in an entirely different way.
