T.W. Eckert & Emma Berg

“Blossoms.” These well known people registered a substantial hit today with their new Japanese operetta. The vocal numbers were well received while it seemed as if the audience could not get enough of Eckert’s piano imitations. Act beautifully staged with special scenery and elaborate costumes. Should go well anywhere. Own set in 3. Close in 1, 14 min. time 25 min.

Marion Carson and Co.

Presenting the operatta “The Belle of Seville.” Four people, the operatta has a very nice little plot to it during which several solos are worked in between by Miss Carson and other members of the act. Miss Carson has a remarkably fine soprano voice, solos by other members of the company also very good. Act went big, one of the hits of the bill. 24 min. full stage.

Basque Quartette

15 minutes in 1. A very good quartette. Singing operatic selections which pleased.

Don Pasquale

This is my newest production and one in which I take the most pride. This is a condensation of a famous Grand Opera, but unlike most Grand Operas, the story is farcical. There is a large element of comedy which went well with the audience and which is well played by the actors. The music is most melodious and I am very proud of the four singers that render it. By the applause which was given this afternoon I will say that the act is a welcome addition to vaudeville. It contains the element so desirable nowadays called class. I have spared no expense in mounting, giving it two beautiful sets and very handsome costumes. Today it ran 35 min. I intend to bring it down to 30 min., possibly a trifle less when it should go even stronger than it did.

Edwin Baker and Company

3 shows, 20 min. full stage – Presenting for the second time here the pleasing little operatta [sic] “A Japanese Courtship” with scenery and light effects. It is a very useful and fairly clever act for the 3-show section of the bill, and would go better if given a place with orchestral accompaniment.

China Blue Plate.

17 minutes, special in four. The most beautiful one act operetta I have seen on this stage. Splendidly sung and acted in appropriate settings.

Edwin Baker and Co.

Japanese Operetta. This is a very pretty idea, poorly carried out. They have a very fetching scene of there own including some set-stuff and the music is really very nice but not well rendered. The comedy is very poor, still on account of its novelty is preferable to the old stereotype acts which we get in the three a day sections. 18 min. full stage.

T.W. Eckhert and Emma Berg

2 shows, 24 min. open in 1, go to 4, close in 1. Presenting for the first time here their operatic sketch, “The Land of Two Moons”, with special scenery, which they carried. It went much better than I expected, being carried along principally by Eckhert’s piano playing.

Barney Fagan & Henrietta Byron

In a burletta entitled “Idle Fancy.” Their talking and singing in fair but it is their dancing that makes the big hit of the act; full stage 21 minutes.

Aubrey Boucigault & Co.

Boucigault assisted by William [illegible], Tenor, and Bert Merkin, basso, in a revampted version of Sir Arthur Sullivan’s operetta, “Cox & Box”. This operetta in its present form will not do for vaudeville, and we would not advise the staging of it at any price. 30 mins. F.S.
