Musical Avolos

YRR 2. Two men and two women. Xylophone musical act, all working straight. They did not want to work in one, but were finally persuaded. Very good act of the kind. They are experts on the instrument. So far, the applause hit. 11 mins. in one.

H.V. Fitzgerald

GRR 3. Quick change artist. This man carries on a dialogue with himself, making quick changes behind a screen to impersonate the characters that are supposed to be talking. Has improved since last here, but still his makeup is so imperfect that the stage has to be kept in semi-darkness. Good for three show section. 13 mins. Gar. in 4.

Dudley & Cheslyn

KR 3. Man and woman. Open with a song, then the woman tells some Irish stories and signs a coon song. Finish with a duet. Straight singing act with the exception of a few stories. Cannot see why Pittsburgh called it a song and dance act, as there is not a bit of dancing in the act. Good three show act. 14 mins. in one.

Barr & Evans

ER 3. Man and woman. Well known comedy sketch in which the man does some tumbling in “rube” makeup, and the woman dressed in outrageously large hoop skirts. No harm for an early place in the three show section. 14 mins. C.D.F. in 3.

Herbert’s Dogs

Twenty-five dogs – all kinds and sizes. Very good act. The feature of the act is a dog that runs around a six foot loop-the-loop, which is carpeted on the inner surface. Good billing feature. 14 mins. Landscape in 5.

Pewitt

The mysterious face. First time in this city. IT is an enormous head, made of some elastic material, that is worked by someone within. It depicts anger, scorn, irony, contempt, etc., at command. The head, after working three minutes, got out of order, and we had to drop the curtain. The audience went out disappointed.

8 Vassar Girls

Eight very attractive young ladies, presenting a musical and spectacular act that can be classed with the very good, at least for this house. The girls open in one with horns, and later go to full stage, where they continue with the music and afterward do a very pretty maypole dance, wearing illuminated costumes. A very pretty act. 20 mins. Cut garden in 4.

Sydney Deans & Co.

Four men, singing act, entitled “Christmas on the Island.” Special prison scene drop in one. Act reported on by New York last week. Only three of the men sing. Their voices are only fair. Much of the talk should be cut out and re-arranged. The holiday audience applauded everything, and gave this act three curtains and an encore. The idea is novel, but the work could be greatly improved. 24 mins. Spec. drop in one.

Walter Daniels

Character impersonator, making up in view of the audience. A very strong act for the three-show section. Always makes good here in a place on the early bill. Impersonations: Svengali, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, and the old violinist in “Mistress Nell.” 5 mins. in one.

McIntyre & Heath

Playing “One Guard” for the first time here. A scream of laughter throughout. 25 mins. Landscape in 4.
