Bert Melrose

Bert Melrose has a clown act with new tricks that are novel and funny. He does one stunt with a pyramid of tables and another with a singing bird.

Fred Watson and Rena Santos

The act was twelve minutes long. Watson and Santos sing and dance. Santos wear a white satin gown and Watson wears evening clothes. Watson does a coon song in a pleasing baritone and Santos accompanies him with “a clear, bell-like high note.” She hums one number “with flute-like purity”.

“Night Follies of San Francisco”: “Touring Chinatown”

The act was twenty-six minutes long on the full stage. In this sketch, a group of white tourists engages a tour guide to take them through San Francisco’s Chinatown. The background changes to a street in Chinatown. Twelve ponies stand behind four Chinese actors who sing an old newsboy quartet number in Scotch highland costume. The men also dance with the white chorus girls. A Chinese boy and girl then do “a rather interesting ‘Turkey Trot'”.

May Ward

The act was twenty-three minutes long. May Ward sings several popular songs. She also has a “plant” in the audience who whistles with her on one number and dances with her during the waltz number.

Carrie De Mar

The act was twenty-three minutes long on the full stage. Carrie De Mar sings several songs in front of a huge opened album suspended in purple velvet. A sheet on the side of the stage announces the title of each song. Her costumes range from a beautiful gown to a light blue silk knickers.

Felix and Caire

The act was twenty-five minutes long. Felix and Caire, former vaudeville child stars, finally have a new and novel act. Caire refuses to marry Felix because he does not have a “past”. The rest of the act involves Felix “traveling” to England, Paris, Germany, Russia, and back to the United States on a ship. In each country they both appear in native costume and do a song and dance. The last number is a Yankee song on the deck of the ship and the comedic talk revolves around seasickness. The duo finish by walking out through the audience and shaking hands as they go, as if everyone was there to welcome them home from their journey.

John and Mae Burke- “Some Laughs”

John and Mae Burke act as a “foolish looking messenger boy” and a “heroic suffragette soldier” respectively. The backdrop is the headquarters of a suffragette armoury. As the suffragette, Mae wears tights and a feather hat. She changes costume frequently. The act was seventeen minutes long.
