(Mason) He plays the role of a typical tough ward politician, and dresses it with just the right degree of caricature. Porter Emerson Browne, the author, has provided him with a big store of good things in dialogue.
Many of Mason's slangy sayings are worth remembering, but they come too swiftly to be held in mind. He handles the role with perfect taste, avoiding the extreme of a tough characterization and holding to a quiet method tat makes the part immensely effective.
