Miss Arville work in one with special plush-drop, back of which is a picture sheet.
The act consists of three very clerkly presented characters with songs, the opening numbers showing a New York actress having trouble with a stage manager; then into song during which she is interrupted by a messenger boy coming from the audience, and who delivers a message on stage with a bot of comedy; then Miss Arville finishes the song. The next number starts with a moving picture, the plush curtains being pulled aside. The pictures shows Miss Arville in her costume and character on Hester Street, during the picture, and while making change of costume from an actress to that of an Italian. Miss Arville talks with the movement of the pictures until their finish, when she appears on the stage as if walking out of the picture. The third number starts with a moving picture of an actress starting from her home to the theater, during which Miss Arville talks, and at the finish of the picture walks on stage in a Spanish costume. An encore number is a Spanish Torador song in which the messenger boy, in Spanish costume, sings off stage to Miss Arville on stage, then both come on stage to finish.
It's a good catchy act, handsomely gowned and staged in every particular, and should be heard on the bigger time.
