F.S. Two. Time 10. Handbalancing and general feats calling for unusual strength. The act is neat and attractive and devoid of all ‘stalling.’ Although nearly 5 o’clock, they held the audience in the seats and performer several entirely new stunts which brought forth enthusiastic applause. A good closing act for one of the best shows of the year.
In one. Time 15. A young English boy. For a genuine novelty, Laddie can’t be beat. Although young he is a thorough artist and a born entertainer. His singing is immense and his grotesque dancing brings howls of delight from the audience. The people kept him working until he was seriously exhausted. As big a hit as we have had all season.
Three pretty young women. F.S. Palace. Time, 13. The act opens with a mandolin trio in spot. Big hand. Then some fast and graceful dancing. Bigger hand. Then some crackerjack tight and slack wire work ending with a sensational finish. The act would make good any place on the bill.
The very best sister team in vaudeville today. Act has been improved 100. percent. Since last here, the elder sister gives impersonation of the Gibson girl which is far better than that of Valeska Surrat, while the younger sister is not only a handsome young woman but charming comedienne. 16 min, in one.
A ventriloquist and a very good one. Judging from the way he went this afternoon, he is the best hit for his kind of an act the house has had excepting Tom Edwards only. He made a good impression the minute he came in sight and he held them without any trouble all the way through. Took three bows at the finish. 14 minutes. Special set.
Comedy acrobats with the funniest little black and tan terrier I have ever seen in many a day. An act that is especially valuable for the children and at the tame time is most acceptable to the grown ups. Could be made a feature in the smaller cities. 8 min. Full stage, 3 shows.
Mental telepathist finishing with her second-sight business. A very good act and especially well presented. They carry their own scene which is, in a way, effective and the act is offered in a showman like manner. The only objection I have to it is it’s great length, 30 min. open full stage, close in 1, 2 shows.
Here is an actual find that doesn’t want to be overlooked, but don’t allow any agents to hand them too much money. AR is salary, 3 shows. One of the best little dancing acts we have played. They make a splendid appearance, dress neatly and the man, especially, is a corking good dancer. Could hold #2 place in most of the 2-a-day houses and is exceptionally valuable for the continuous. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows.
A coon lady made up as an East India Princess doing a magic act, principal features being the aerial suspension and the basket trick. From the 3-a-day standpoint, it is a very acceptable act. 16 min, full stage, close in 1, 3 shows.
Assisted by two men, Mr. Carl Eckstrom & Mr. Morris Franklin, in a sketch entitled ‘Captain Velvet.’ The scene is laid in Southern California, near the Mexican Border. The action of the play is intensely dramatic, with outlaws, half-breeds, assassins, etc.; the company is well chosen, and the characters well cast and the little act commands the closest attention. Kitchen set in three. 21 min. Received four curtain calls. The ending of the sketch is a surprise and the action is wholly unexpected. The audience wanted more at the finish.
